My Top 5 Fintech Podcasts
Do you listen to the radio or podcasts? If not then read this other post.
If you answered yes then I have a post here that will offer you some new insights.
First of all let me explain what a podcast is. Think of a radio show that is available as a download via the internet for your smartphone or computer device. You can have the settings tailored to you for auto downloads or a pull basis. Podcasts can be found via a simple google search or through other selected media such as Itunes and Androids Google play store.
Personal and professional use
I am an avid consumer of podcasts, be it in the car, out for a walk or whilst surfing social media, preparing food I am most often also listening to some information. I average over 60 podcasts on my phone of which I probably have 20 or so that have remained for 2 years and the rest come and go depending on specific information or insights into a specialist subject.
The business shows I listen to provide up to date industry specific information that we can adjust and apply with JAMSO for the benefit of our market and customers, plus improve my personal talent pool currency.
So are you interested in any forms of finance? If yes then read this post, if not read this other one.
For Fintech and Banking here are the podcasts I listen to worthy of making a list to share
This is the podcast I have the warmest feelings towards. I like the British style that shines through Mike Baliman comments and questions. As a host for this weekly 30 minute show he interviews the movers and shakers of the UK (read London) Fintech scene. I am pleased to that Michael is quick to bring ethics and moral responsibility to the table often in his releases plus a reality check to many that too many Fintech startups have not matured yet with active customers, markets through market cycle patterns of peak and falls.
A great podcast hosted by 3 expert in the field covering across the continents. They have different flavors and opinions but this variety provides great dynamism for subject discussions. I can only suggest that this podcast is given at least 2 episode downloads so you can make your own judgement on their variety of content and style. Hosts of the show include Mike Townsend, Brian Roemmele, Faisal Khan
Hosted by Brett King the author of Breaking Banks you know you are gaining insights into the latest news and changes in the Fintech world. Brett has a clear vision about removing friction from financial transactions. He has the power and clout in the industry to bring leading influencers as guests. I noticed that this podcast has become a bit too busy with many maybe too many inputs over a short time span thus reducing the depth of discussion. I now see this as the mainstream “news” for Fintech.
This podcast is hosted by the soft toned and softly spoken Jo Ann Barefoot . This is mostly a US centric interview format but does cover some interesting bank and regulatory thoughts, ideas and progressive consideration. I hear the slow pace of regulation and cautiousness in the podcast that provides an insight as to why and how the regulation of banking will remain behind the pace of technology.
This is a perfect progression podcast for anyone who wants to know more about bitcoin. I have found some of the interviews very technical but more pleased to walk away with a list of additional research to conduct than be left out of significant details surrounding bitcoin and the block-chain. Trace Mayer is the host with some great questions.
JAMSO extra bonus podcast list offering :
I like these short podcasts from Lucy Kellaway. She remains classically British in her tones and approach to presentation so look out for some smart intelligent humorous moments whilst dealing with some serious business themes.
